Microsoft has did a good work on the start screen. Start screen is good for Windows 8 touch screen devices, but when it comes to PCs you may prefer desktop to boot directly into it. In Windows 8 you have to create bootdesktop.scf or by Start8 methods but in Windows 8.1 has a simple option to do it natively.
How to boot directly to the desktop in Windows 8.1

- Right click on windows 8.1 taskbar, choose properties.
- Go to navigation tab, make a check mark on “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start“.
Next time when you boot Windows 8.1 your PC will take you directly into desktop by skipping Start screen.
